NATIONAL 3 PEAKS

CHALLENGE

 

 

On Saturday 3rd October 2009 a team representing the Gemma Louise Newman Memorial Fund will take to the hills with an exciting challenge in order to raise money for the charity

The National Three Peaks Challenge involves the team climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales. These are Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon.

There is no official body or definition of the Three Peaks Challenge - but to complete the challenge all climbing team members must ascend and descend all three peaks in a set time limit - also they must travel to each peak in the allocated time frame. This is set for 24hours.

Mountain routes may vary but usually involve the following paths…….

Ben Nevis : Tourist path, starting from the youth hostel in Glen Nevis.

 

Scafell Pike: Either the corridor route from Seathwaite or the steeper, shorter route from Wasdale Head.

 

Snowdon: Starting from the Youth Hostel in Llanberis Pass, the Pyg Track and Miners Track are the most popular routes.

 

The team are set for the challenge and undertaken many hours of training for this event they are 100 % committed to the task that lies ahead of them and are counting on your support to help bring in the sponsorship money or help provide  some of the equipment that they must have for the challenge.
